Chilies, Smelly Cat and Shane Halloween Show 2005

Some more of the Taiwan life! Eating Western food at Chilies in Taichung is a great place to get proper burgers, though this time I opted for the steak with mash potato and a glass of wine. Must be my age.

We see plenty of feral cats in the area and occasionally I buy them tuna - they're so bad at it themselves.

Last night I went to the Changhua Shane School Halloween Show. An excellent one, in fact the best one I've been too. All the Changhua teachers put on a student show plus there are songs and competitions... all good fun. And Yuanlin school has to put on a short teachers show. We did one and it rocked bananas! We did a dance set choreographed by Melody - our resident dance instructor. So for 4 hours during the day we sweated and practiced the moves and that night performed our little set. Very funny as we tried to remember what to do and not loose it totally. Success!

The very big chocolate cake.

We demolish the cake.

She always laughs at my bad jokes... a good sign.

Happy Kate through glass.

Smelly cat, smelly cat. What are they feeding you?.

Tuna tonight.

The Halloween Show starts with "I can see clearly now". Johnny Nash would be proud!

King Arthur steals the show.

Stanley has a little run around on stage.

I'm a Judge tonight, looking at the Halloween costumes.

The Yuanlin teachers show is about to begin. Too late to run now!

The criple comes on stage to shout orders.

Melody, the dancing magician, struts her stuff.

Jen is funking like a diva.

What's next????

Did I really just do that!.

Learn Chinese the Simple Way

This is very, very rude and should not be tried by any family members, family friends, Kate's family or those with a weak heart. You have been warned! Thanks to Tom for this.

Pin Cushion Martin - Acupuncture For a Bad Back

One weekend I'm doing the manly thing, mopping the floor. Then with out warning my back is in spasm and I'm kneeling on the floor. Oh buggery bugger.

So the good news is I get to visit a well respected Chinese doctor who does acupuncture. First he finds the right spot, normally on my hand. Then he jabs the needle in and twists it down until I twitch & yelp. Then I do the exercises and I'm feeling so much better. It's uncomfortable at first and it hurts as the needle sits in my hand but I'd do it again.

Along side the acupuncture came the bitter herbal oral medicine and hot herbal patches stuck on my back which smelt of aniseed. Now I'm fixed. Time to drill some holes and put the blind up in our bedroom.

Choose the medicine, from dried leeches to berries.

Looking daft doing my bending exercises with needles in my hands.

Oooh you bugger!

My fingers are twitching.

Oh the pain Kate, I really need breakfast in bed.

Cute dog, Harry.

Harry gets ready to unleash a doggy fart from hell.

Not the back of my knees.

OK, lets get them in the back of my kees too.

Don't move.

This I didn't expect.

Oh good, out they come. After 7 days of this I'm restored to working order.

10th of October Weekend to Hong Kong

Hong Kong is one capacious place but easy to navigate, and most places of interest can be visited in a long weekend.
We took the time to visit during the 10th of October national holiday in Taiwan.

Cutie in the plane.

This one's for you bro. Boeing 777-300, with a wingspan of 200ft.

Me and my better half on top The Peak.

That's Hong Kong.

My favourite picture. One we are framing.

Wow! A red-lit building of immense character.

A pint of Guinness for the man, a glass of water for the lady. Thank you.

Looking casual and the Man Mo Temple, that was really quite naff.

Name that car, correct answer gets a special prize.

Beware of Dengue Fever, and we were aware.

A pink flower in an Indian restaurant.

Aaaah... charming couple.

This building is soooo tall I couldn't get it all in.

I think I look like my brother in this one.... strange.

Our hotel room.

A building.

Spastic head sticking out of boat.

You what?

Come on, take the bloody picture.

A bit of home.

A bank I would trust with those lights.

We're banking... banking to the left.

Just cool.

That's me with all Kate's makeup bags.... hehehe
