Great Wall and Dandong
A small addition to the mamoth blog last time:
Yesterday Kate and I went to the easternmost part of the Great Wall. It was quite short compared to the other section we saw in Badaling which snaked for miles into the horizon. We climbed the Dandong section up a hill (a steep walk) and at the top we saw North Korea. Really quite dull, lots of flat land with very little happening. In fact last night we went to the Yalu River, just a short walk from the hotel and across the river is N.Korea. At night you can't see anything over there because there's not a single light on, whether they have electricity or not, I don't know. Luckily we'd been during the day a few days before, had we not, we would have thought we were looking out to sea.
Also spent the evening chatting to a Chinese man with the most amazing mullet EVER. Will try and get a photo tonight!
Dangdong rocks!
