Alishan - August 2005

August 2005, one weekend.
We decided to head for the mountains. Alishan is one of the most beautiful sites in Taiwan and the sunset and sunrise is the highlight.

We set off early Saturday morning, 6:00 or something like that, so early that my body didn't function too well. The train ride is long and tiring. Once we arrived everyone got straight down to business.... food and beer. We all got rather drunk and silly then the evening turned into morning and we needed to be up again at 4:00. The scences from the mountain were fantastic. You are above cloud level watching the sun slowly rise up behind the mountains. It's so bright and everyone squints to get a picture. Click, click, click. Everyone leaves and goes home.

On the train to Alishan Tom has another look to make sure they are real.


Kate with cute dog we found playing outside the restaurant.


Kate just checks Rich has cleaned behind his ears... he hadn't.


We find a hobo who likes to entertain the tourists, Rich loved his arse flame work.


The fire just wouldn't go out! We blew so hard.


The gang hang out on the streets shouting at old ladies and playing drunk basketball with strangers.


Tom finds a little bogey hanging from Grainne's nose and is unsure how to break the news.


We make it to the viewing area way too early in the morning and Dan shows me where the mountain tops are roughly located.


Then the sun comes up averything gets very bright.

The fashion concious can pay for these special all season glasses.


Rich feels a bit queer and Kate looks on not sure what to make of this strange bendy boy.


Kate and I find a jungle and make our way through the thick foliage leaving crumbs so we can get back until we reach a house made of cookies.


My gay side comes out to entertain the few who need a laugh.


Later that evening I got these shots of the sky.
