Chinese Mullet Man

Well good news, I've got a cracking photo of the mullet, downside is I
can't download it from the camera in China. (especially on our limited budget!)

This man is special! Right outside our hotel in Dandong is an open air stage with patio chairs and tables laid out in front. During the evening different and rather shite acts come up and try to entertain the locals, which they do!

One night we spotted an act who has the rare gift of a singer in that he can't sing. He can however drink beer! And this is his talent.
So on stage he wails and jumps around in tight leather pants, Aerosmith T-shirt and the stunning mullet down his back (rest of head shaved). After this he jeers up the crowd with banter and proceeds to neck a jug of beer, which inevitably runs down his face, soaking his T-shirt and pants! After that he looks remarkably sick, with his face contorting in fits of pain!

One night we had the lucky break of sitting down on these patio chairs and tables for a quick beer. He noticed the foreigners and swayed over to our table. He was slurring badly but Kate managed a good couple of discussions about Muslims, Taiwan, singing and Dandong, China. He bought us 5 bottles of beer and drank most himself, pouring the rest on his feet. A very funny evening even if he was quite annoying - like most pissed people when you're sober.

Since that night we've been sitting about in Dandong relaxing and eating lots of cheap fruit. I'm feeling very much ready for our next stop on Monday - Chengde. It's a 16 hour train ride over-night, so we've decided to upgrade from sitting to hard sleepers! The first time. Chengde is famed for it's many temples and the Imperial Summer Palace. Then after that it's a short trip to Beijing.

That's all, may be a while before I get another chance to blog.
